Annual Report Printing UK: Short Runs, Stapled or PUR Bound

No. Section 423 of the Companies Act 2006 obliges a company to send its annual accounts and reports to members, debenture holders and anyone entitled to notice of general meetings. Those copies may go electronically, or by website, where members have agreed. The only mention of paper is section 1145: a member who received the document electronically can demand a hard copy, which the company must supply free within 21 days. Most organisations print anyway, because directors, auditors and funders still read from paper.

Three worked examples, all full colour, laminated 300gsm silk covers over 130gsm silk text, UK delivery and no VAT included: 100 A4 stapled annual reviews of 32 pages cost £305; 100 A4 PUR bound reports of 68 pages cost £610; and 100 copies of a 100 page A4 PUR bound report cost £828. Stapled reports leave us three working days after online proof approval, PUR bound reports in five. Add a day or two for a hard copy proof if directors want to see one, and more for foil blocking, uncoated speciality boards or litho runs in the thousands. Tell us the AGM date or the funder's deadline and we will plan backwards from it.

Yes. There is no minimum. Many reports we print are runs of 25 to 100 copies: a set for the board, a set for the auditors and lenders, and a box for the AGM. If you later need more for a funding round or a recruitment drive, we reprint from the same files.

Count the pages. Up to about 48 pages on standard papers, staples are fine and cheaper, and the report opens flat for tables that run across a spread. A PUR spine is available from 32 inside pages, and once the accounts and notes push the extent past 72 pages the spine is the only route. Heavy uncoated papers reach the limit of stapling sooner, which is why a 64 page report on 135gsm Colorplan went perfect bound.

Silk is the safe choice for reports heavy on tables and charts: 130gsm or 170gsm inside with a 300gsm laminated cover, as Pizza Express used. Uncoated reads as more considered and photographs beautifully in a softer way, which is why Shelter, Wagamama and Genomics England chose it. Charts with fine rules and small type print cleanly on either, provided the PDF is exported properly.

Bound reports, booklets and brochures are zero rated in the UK, so our quoted price is the total. Loose inserts such as proxy forms, reply cards or posters carry 20% VAT, which we show as a separate line on the quote.

Yes. Loose single sheets, folded letters and reply cards can be printed alongside the report and inserted into each copy or packed separately. Flag it in your enquiry so we allow for the handwork and deliver everything together.

One print ready PDF exported from InDesign, Affinity or Word at 300dpi, with 3mm bleed, single pages in order and fonts embedded. Charts pasted in as screenshots are the usual weak spot: export them as vector graphics or at full resolution. For a perfect bound report, the cover is supplied as one spread, front, spine and back, laid out on the template we email once the page count is fixed.

Yes. UK delivery is by tracked courier and can be split between addresses, with a consignment timed to reach the AGM venue the day before. Overseas copies for investors or partners are quoted on request, with duties included for the US and Canada.
