Graham Ainsley's Science Fiction Theatre: A Journey Through Illustrated Book Printing ????

A Portal to the Future: The Magic of Science Fiction

Graham Ainsley, the mastermind behind The Space Merchants and Science Fiction Theatre, has a deep fascination with the genre of science fiction. His passion extends beyond the realm of literature and film, delving into various scientific disciplines including Genetic Engineering, Climate Studies, The Anthropocene, Nuclear Technology, and Paleontology. This fascination is reflected in his work, particularly in the creation of the "Science Fiction Theatre," a monthly film club that showcases classic science fiction films.

The Art of Illustrated Book Printing ????

Ainsley's "Science Fiction Theatre" is more than just a film club; it's a testament to the art of illustrated book printing. Each event is accompanied by a beautifully designed poster, capturing the essence of the featured film. These posters, much like the films they represent, transport viewers to different worlds, showcasing the power of illustration and the magic of print.

A Celebration of Artistic Expression ????

Ainsley's work is a celebration of artistic expression, a sentiment echoed in Ex Why Zed's commitment to quality and creativity in printing. Whether it's an illustrated book or a self-published novel, Ex Why Zed is dedicated to providing high-quality printing services that meet the unique needs of artists and creatives.

Embracing the Magic of Science Fiction

"Science Fiction Theatre" is a testament to Ainsley's passion for science fiction and the power of print to bring stories to life. It's also a testament to the importance of quality printing in creating a tangible representation of an artist's vision. Whether you're an illustrator looking to print your work or a writer in need of a high-quality book, Ex Why Zed has the expertise and passion to make your creative vision a reality.

Science Fiction Theatre is a monthly film club dedicated to the exploration and celebration of classic science fiction cinema. To celebrate our 50th event we’re proud to present SCIENCE FICTION THEATRE: SCREENINGS // 1-50, a compendium of all the films screened in our first 4½ years.

For each of the events, a different artist or illustrator is commissioned to create an original poster to commemorate the occasion. Collected here are the first 50, alongside exclusive new features on all the films, written especially for this volume by a host of academics, writers, journalists, and fans.

The self-published book includes a wealth of captivating illustrations depicting your favourite science fiction films from the last fifty years.

The Print Specification ????

The books are A5 size, perfect bound. The cover is printed onto 300gsm uncoated paper with a matte lamination to the outer. The 142-page text is printed onto 150gsm silk, offering full colour throughout. The book is then trimmed, collated, and perfect bound, resulting in a high-quality, professional finish.

A Journey Through Art and Print

From Graham Ainsley's "Science Fiction Theatre" to Chris Rydlewski's "Searching for Your Shadow", Ex Why Zed has been a part of many artists' journeys. Each project is a testament to the power of art and the importance of quality printing.
