London's Books, Beautifully Bound

From a first photobook to a fashion lookbook on a buyer's desk, the books we print for London have one thing in common: they're made to be kept. We've been printing books since 2006, for more than 850 London customers since 2017 alone, with short runs, proper materials and a real person checking every file before it goes anywhere near a press.

Hardbacks that feel like objects

For Ted Baker London's Autumn Winter 25 lookbook, the brief was a book you keep, not a booklet you recycle: 240 × 170mm, case bound, a Racing Green Colorplan cover with foiling, printed endpapers and 80 pages of FSC certified uncoated stock. Gary Williams wrapped The Little Book of Camden Passage in cloth with foil blocking, while Anthony Epes' East London at Dawn pairs a mid-grey Brillianta cloth with gold foil.

Photobooks from London's streets

India Mae Alby's The London Rollerskating Scene runs to 198 pages of black-and-white photography on 170gsm gloss, perfect bound with a 13mm spine. Hugo Berman captured the capital's empty lockdown streets in London in Silence, a 340 × 280mm coffee-table book on 200gsm silk.

Children's books, galleries and art schools

Laura Arnold's picture book What Happens Underground? is an A4 landscape paperback on 170gsm silk. We've printed exhibition catalogues for Frank Bowling at Hales Gallery, finished with a pink-foiled dust jacket, and large-format catalogues for JGM Gallery in Battersea. Every summer we print degree show books for London's art schools, including a 260-page paperback for Central Saint Martins BA Product and Industrial Design and catalogues for Goldsmiths and Camberwell.

Printed in Colchester, delivered to London

We're based in Colchester, about an hour from Liverpool Street, and every order includes free tracked UK delivery. Paperbacks are with you in 5 working days and hardbacks in 7. Not sure which binding, paper or cloth suits your book? We'll post you free samples, and you can order a single test copy before committing to the run. Printing from outside London? Our book printing page covers everything we make for authors across the UK.

Still have questions?

London Book Printing: Your Questions
Are you a book printer in London?

We're based in Colchester, Essex, about an hour from London, and we've printed for more than 850 London customers since 2017: authors, photographers, galleries, brands and art schools. Send your PDF, we check it for free, and your books arrive with free tracked UK delivery.

How long does book printing take?

Paperbacks (perfect bound) are with you in 5 working days and hardbacks (case bound) in 7. Working to a launch, exhibition or degree show date? Tell us when you ask for a price and we'll confirm straight away.

How much does it cost to print a book?

As real examples, 100 A5 paperbacks start from around £422 and 100 A5 hardbacks come in around £640. Page count, paper, size, cover finish and quantity all change the price. Use our instant calculator for 1–20 copies, or our 30-second quote form for a same-day price on bigger runs.

Can I print just one copy of my book?

Yes. There's no minimum order, so you can print a single test copy of your paperback, hardback or photobook, check it in your hands, then order the full run.

Can you do cloth covers, foiling and printed endpapers?

Yes. Ted Baker London's lookbook has a Colorplan cover with foiling and printed endpapers; The Little Book of Camden Passage uses cloth with foil blocking; East London at Dawn pairs Brillianta cloth with gold foil. Ask and we'll post you samples of the cloths and papers.

Do you print photobooks?

Yes, from 32-page photo zines to 200-page perfect bound photobooks and large-format coffee-table books. Silk and gloss papers bring out colour and contrast; India Mae Alby chose 170gsm gloss for The London Rollerskating Scene.

Do you print exhibition and degree show catalogues?

Yes. We've printed catalogues for Hales Gallery and JGM Gallery, and degree show books for Central Saint Martins, Goldsmiths and Camberwell, several of which come back to us year after year.

Can I use recycled or FSC certified paper?

Yes. FSC certified papers are available across our range (Ted Baker London's lookbook used FSC certified uncoated stock inside) and we offer 100% recycled uncoated papers too.
