As pioneers in creative writing journal printing, ExWhyZed cherishes opportunities to partner with unique publications such as the “Shooter Literary Zine”. Let’s dive into this case study to discover the process and magic behind printing this singular journal.
Shooter Literary Magazine is a distinguished biannual literary journal that provides a platform for emerging talents in poetry and short fiction. Shooter’s mission is to showcase excellent writing, irrespective of genre. It invites submissions that demonstrate literary merit and compelling storytelling. This diversity in content creates a unique challenge when it comes to translating the multitude of creative voices into a cohesive printed journal.
The task at hand was to construct a 222x157mm portrait book, marrying the rich tapestry of the written word with the tangible touch of print. The 4-page cover was printed onto 300gsm silk and treated with a matte lamination to give it a sophisticated feel. The 80-page text was printed onto 120gsm uncoated paper, ensuring that the written content remained the star of the show.
Utilising our high-speed HP digital press, we trimmed, collated, and perfect bound the pages, adding the final touches to this showcase of creativity. Perfect binding was the choice of the day for its sturdiness and professional appearance. More about this method can be explored in our perfect binding set-up guide.
