As one of the leading print providers in the UK, Ex Why Zed once again demonstrated their mastery in printing with So Young Issue 29, a testament to their expertise in music and culture magazine printing. This project catered directly to music concert promoters, as well as music and art enthusiasts, offering a unique printed piece that beautifully weaves music, art and print into a compelling narrative.
The story of So Young Issue 29, which can be found here, began with the understanding of the powerful influence of music and art in our everyday lives. The creators behind So Young Magazine sought to encapsulate this in a printed medium, with a focus on independent artists and musicians who are shaping the cultural scene. The aim was to create a platform that resonates with music concert promoters, by showcasing the most engaging music and art narratives of the time.
For this project, we opted for a 245x172mm zine, which offered a portable yet immersive reading experience. The print spec included a 4pp cover onto 200gsm Uncoated, with a 48pp Text onto 120gsm Uncoated. We used full colour throughout the zine to ensure vibrant visuals that do justice to the engaging content.
A key feature of the zine was its binding. We used the wire stitching technique, which is detailed in our wire stitching setup guide. This binding method not only offers durability but also lets the reader easily flip through the pages.
As always, we printed the job on our HP digital press in super fast time, without compromising on quality. Our clients often express their surprise and delight at our speed and precision, as evidenced in our video guides.
The final product was a zine that perfectly embodies the essence of the So Young brand – young, fresh, and bursting with creative energy. The striking visuals combined with engaging write-ups provided a rich reading experience for the audience, especially appealing to music concert promoters who are always on the lookout for the next big act.
