When it comes to the world of art, few names resonate as profoundly as Frank Bowling. Known for his abstract expressionist works, Bowling’s art has graced the walls of prestigious galleries worldwide. Recently, we had the honour of bringing his art to life in a different form – through the pages of beautifully printed catalogues for Hales Gallery.
The project involved the creation of 250x210mm books, each with a 4pp cover onto 300gsm Uncoated with Matt lamination to the outer. The 60pp text was printed onto 170gsm Uncoated, with four colour print throughout. The books were then trimmed, creased, and Perfect Bound. To add a touch of elegance, we included a Dust Jacket with Pink foiling to the outer onto 170gsm Uncoated.
In the world of art printing, every detail matters. From the choice of paper to the quality of the print, each element plays a crucial role in faithfully reproducing the artist’s vision. Our commitment to quality and attention to detail ensured that each page of the Frank Bowling catalogues was a work of art in itself.

In today’s digital age, the power of print cannot be underestimated. A printed catalogue allows the viewer to engage with the art in a tangible way, creating a connection that digital mediums often fail to achieve. This is particularly true in the world of art, where the texture, colour, and form are integral to the viewer’s experience.
The success of the Frank Bowling catalogues is a testament to the quality of our art gallery printing services. But don’t just take our word for it. Check out some of our other successful projects, such as the Season Annual, Massimo Rumi Hard Back Photo Book, and the Spirit of Adventure Art Catalogue.
At Ex Why Zed, we’re not just printers. We’re passionate about bringing creative projects to life. Whether it’s a children’s book, a zine, a photo book, or an artist catalogue, we approach each project with the same level of enthusiasm, expertise, and commitment to quality.
The Frank Bowling catalogues project was more than just a printing job. It was a collaboration between the artist, the gallery, and us. It was an opportunity to showcase our expertise in art exhibition printing and to contribute to the vibrant London art scene. Most importantly, it was a chance to bring art to life in a new and exciting way.
