???? Arthur and the Elephant: A Glossy Adventure in Children's Book Printing

"Arthur and the Elephant" is a delightful children's book penned by the talented Fiona Campbell. This enchanting tale, brought to life through Ex Why Zed's glossy children's book printing, takes readers on a whimsical journey filled with unexpected house guests and bedroom shenanigans.

???? The Story Behind the Story

The story unfolds when an elephant, donning a bowler hat, bushy black eyebrows, and a poorly fitting raincoat, shows up on Arthur's doorstep. In a surprising twist, Arthur's mum not only welcomes the elephant but also rents him Arthur's bedroom. The plot thickens as Arthur tries to expose the elephant's disguise and reclaim his bedroom. This charming narrative has captivated young readers, earning rave reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.

????️ The Glossy Finish: A Printing Adventure

When Fiona Campbell approached Ex Why Zed for her children's book printing needs, we knew we had an exciting project on our hands. The perfect bound children's book was printed in A4 format, with a 4pp cover onto 350gsm Gloss and gloss lamination to the outer. The 28pp text was printed onto 170gsm Gloss, with four colours throughout. The book was then trimmed, collated, and wire stitched, resulting in a professional and durable finish.

The choice of a gloss stock made the illustrations pop off the page, creating an engaging finish. The thick 350gsm cover was laminated for added longevity, protecting the book from eager little hands. However, it's worth noting that the use of gloss on every page might be a bit overkill, and a silk or even uncoated finish might have worked better aesthetically. The wire stitched finish and the gloss throughout at A4 size means there is an overwhelming amount of shine, which doesn't quite work aesthetically.
