If you’ve ever wondered how the streets of New York would look from the perspective of an expert street photographer, then look no further. Craig Whitehead, popularly known as sixstreetunder, captures the gritty yet vibrant essence of New York in a truly distinctive way. Here at ExWhyZed, we had the pleasure to bring these incredible visuals to life in printed form with a book that aptly serves as a testament to sixstreetunder’s artistic talent. In this case study, we’ll walk you through the process of this standout project.
Sixstreetunder is a British street photographer renowned for his compelling composition, adept use of colour, and evocative representations of urban life. His book “New York” is a fascinating collection of photographs that not only capture the city’s architecture but also its energy, diversity, and spirit.
With over 80 pages of high-quality gloss prints, the book allows readers to experience New York through the lens of an artist who has a unique way of capturing the city’s vibrant and bustling life. It stands as an engaging contribution to the world of street photography book printing.
To give justice to sixstreetunder’s captivating work, the book was designed with meticulous attention to detail. It measures 210x210mm with an elegant 4pp cover printed onto 300gsm uncoated stock, then treated with a luxurious matt lamination to enhance its tactile experience. Inside, 80pp of text were printed onto 170gsm gloss stock, ensuring a high-quality finish that beautifully highlights the details and colours of each photograph.
Using our state-of-the-art HP digital press, we ensured each page of the book was rendered in full colour, demonstrating the vibrancy of sixstreetunder’s photography. Finally, the book was trimmed, collated, and perfect bound, presenting a neat and professional finish.
Our printed project builder was instrumental in this process. It allows the client to detail their specific requirements, ensuring a seamless print journey from start to finish. This tool, coupled with our commitment to exceptional quality and service, played a crucial role in realising sixstreetunder’s vision for his New York project.
The “New York” book is not only a tribute to the city but also a shining example of our commitment to supporting artists and their visions. Whether it’s a street photography project like this or a different form of creative expression, at ExWhyZed, we strive to bring your artistic vision to print with precision and quality.
