The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the world in numerous ways, leaving an indelible mark on human society and individual lives. The world of art was not exempt from its influences, prompting artists to look inward and find inspiration in the everyday. The outcome? “Close to Home: The Everyday Sublime” – an art exhibition that brought together artists exploring the everyday sublime. Artists Fiona Grady, Linda Hemmersbach, Joanna Kirk, Minnie Lumai, Hannah Luxton, Lindsay Malay, Kittey Malarvie, Maria Teresa Ortoleva, and Deborah Tchoudjinoff delivered poignant works, reflecting their personal journeys through the pandemic.
The art exhibition’s catalogue, printed by the renowned London art gallery book printing service, Ex Why Zed, serves as a testament to the resilience and creative vitality of these artists. Ex Why Zed’s role was far more than a print service provider; they were a partner in bringing the artists’ work to life, ensuring the catalogue was a visual and tactile treat befitting the evocative artwork.
Ex Why Zed’s “secret sauce” was not merely their state-of-the-art HP Indigo digital press but their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality results in challenging pandemic conditions. They understood that the catalogue was a vital tool for the artists and JGM Gallery to gain exposure and promote their work when conventional means were severely hampered. This understanding drove them to achieve exceptional print results.
The catalogue’s print specifications underscore ExWhyZed’s meticulous attention to detail and high production standards. The 254x203mm Portrait Books consisted of a 4pp cover on 300gsm Silk, matt laminated for a sophisticated finish. The catalogue comprised 36 pages of text printed on 150gsm Silk. Each page exhibited a full-colour print, making the artwork pop and resonate. After the printing process, the books were trimmed, collated, and perfect bound, resulting in a professionally finished product that was a pleasure to hold and peruse.
ExWhyZed has consistently produced high-end catalogues for several art exhibitions and collections, including “Gerrish Fine Art: Brave New World“, “Sabina Savage Collection Lookbooks“, “Frank Bowling Catalogues at Hales Gallery“, “Spirit of Adventure Art Catalogue“, and “Barry Laden Art Exhibition Catalogues“. Each of these projects presented unique requirements and creative challenges, which Ex Why Zed navigated with skill and creativity.
The “Close to Home: The Everyday Sublime” catalogue is more than a collection of beautiful artwork. It is a story of artists’ resilience in the face of global adversity, captured with empathy and aesthetic finesse by Ex Why Zed.
