Hardback Photography Printing: Capturing History in “Abandoned” by Sajad Ahmad

Photography allows us to encapsulate fleeting moments, freeze them in time, and revisit them whenever we wish. Sajad Ahmad, a passionate photographer, uses his camera to tell stories. His hardback photography book, “Abandoned”, is a poignant reminder of a time and place lost to the ravages of time. Through Ex Why Zed’s expert hardback photography printing services, Ahmad’s photographs have found a permanent home that can be shared with the world.

Sajad Ahmad: A Photographer’s Journey ????

Sajad Ahmad’s journey with photography began with a love for gadgets and the influence of his father, an avid shooter. Despite pursuing a degree in medicine, Ahmad’s passion for photography never waned. His book, “Abandoned”, is the culmination of this passion, showcasing his ability to capture not just images but narratives.

Printing the Abandoned: A Testament to Quality and Precision ????

“Abandoned” is an A4 case-bound book, featuring a cover printed onto 170gsm silk and wrapped over a greyboard case. The cover is treated with matt lamination, offering it a touch of elegance and durability. Inside, 64 pages printed onto 150gsm silk bring Ahmad’s striking photographs to life in full colour. Similar to our work on the beautifully illustrated “A Portrait of Isolation” by David Smalley, Ex Why Zed’s commitment to precision and quality is evident in every page of “Abandoned”.

The Story of Abandoned: A Forgotten Village Immortalised

“Abandoned” tells the story of the boy’s village in St Athan, South Wales. Built as a recreational place for the children of Welsh coalfields in the 1920s, the village camp was left in disrepair in the 1980s and eventually fell to vandalism. Ahmad’s photographs capture the village’s current state, with fallen roofs and walls, colourful graffiti, and the encroachment of nature, all of which add to its character. Much like the hardback photography book “First Three, No Flash” by Michal Augustini, “Abandoned” is a visual narrative that speaks volumes about its historical significance.

Ex Why Zed makes self publishing a truly pleasurable experience!
Brilliant communication from start to finish. Mike had endless patience for the many questions we asked. The guides provided were easy to follow and super helpful (the video guides are a must watch too). Our order of hardback illustrated children's books was delivered expertly packaged and on time. As for the finished product itself - stunning - a real joy to finally hold, beautifully made and perfectly printed! We couldn't have asked for more. Well, we did - we instantly placed an order for paperback children's colouring books too, which we are equally as happy with. Look forward to working with Ex Why Zed again in the future.
